Current Research
Chelsea studies drivers’ understanding of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and how their understanding influences trust and reliance on these systems. She is investigating training strategies to improve drivers’ understanding of ADAS with the goal of supporting appropriate trust and reliance.
Biosketch
Chelsea joined HFASt as a PhD student in September 2018, where she works under the supervision of Professor Birsen Donmez. She received her BA (2013) in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Western Ontario. She transitioned to the field of human factors and obtained a MASc (2017) from the University of Toronto under the supervision of Mark Chignell. Her master’s research focused on modelling frustration with online video streaming services. During and after her master’s, Chelsea worked at Human Factors North Inc., helping prepare reports concerning the human factors involved in motor vehicle accidents.
